Basic Physical Examination

-- If you are 40 or older, you should go for a check-up every year! --

Illnesses such as hypertension, heart disease, high cholesterol and diabetes occur in middle age and older age group. These diseases are closely related to daily lifestyle of a person, and are often referred to as "daily living habit diseases." Without definite subjective signs, the diseases worsen slowly but steadily. For this reason, it is very important that if you are 40 or older, you should go for an annual check-up, even if you might think you are completely healthy. About 83% of those who received a basic health examination in fiscal 1996 were found to have some kind of abnormality.
